Alex joined Fishman Stewart after nearly nine years of varied IP boutique experiences, from full-service IP to a trademark prosecution-focused practice. He became an attorney to channel his skills in communications, analysis, and competitiveness to assist clients in their legal pursuits. He thrives on learning about a client’s business so he can dig in and apply the best legal approach to maximize enterprise value or resolve adversarial matters.
In terms of influencing his legal career, Alex cites his time as a journalist at his college newspaper, where he built upon his foundation of curiosity and strong writing skills, carefully choosing the appropriate words and messaging for his reporting and investigative efforts – and applying that experience to his legal responsibilities today.
Alex grew up in Eastern Iowa, where he found people to generally be pragmatic and diligent. He guides his clients from that lens—taking the actions that achieve the needed goals first and foremost, and building out from there, carefully and thoughtfully. In his spare time, Alex is a
hobbyist photographer, particularly wildlife photography. He also enjoys cooking (and claims to make a great chicken sandwich), board games, basketball, golf, and watching his alma mater Iowa Hawkeyes as well as the Chicago Cubs.
