Alex joined Fishman Stewart after nearly nine years of varied IP boutique experiences, from full-service IP to a trademark prosecution-focused practice. He became an attorney to channel his skills in communications, strategic analysis, and competitiveness to assist clients in their legal pursuits. He thrives in situations demanding a depth of knowledge of the facts, whether for understanding his clients’ businesses for growing strong enterprise value-increasing trademark portfolios or for building cases in adversarial contexts.
In terms of influencing his legal career, Alex cites his journalism studies in college and his time at The University of Iowa’s Daily Iowan student newspaper, where he built upon his foundation of curiosity and strong writing skills, carefully choosing the appropriate words and messaging for his reporting and investigative efforts – and applying that experience to his legal responsibilities today.
Alex is a Hawkeye, born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with two parents, three sisters, and two grandfathers who all attended The University of Iowa. Like his fellow Iowans, Alex appreciates pragmatic and efficient solutions to problems and guides his clients from that lens.
In his spare time, Alex enjoys being a husband and father and cooking (claiming to make a great chicken sandwich). When time allows, Alex enjoys wildlife photography, traveling, board games, basketball, golf, and watching his alma mater Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs.
