Why Fishman Stewart?
Fishman Stewart is an intellectual property specialty firm that identifies, secures, and advances creativity. Since 1996 the firm has managed more than 100,000 patents and trademarks world-wide for its wide-ranging client base.
The firm is committed to an environment of tolerance and inclusion where our professionals flourish, and our clients receive the benefit of practitioners fully understanding the underpinnings that motivate their creativity.
The firm’s world-class professionals utilize state-of-the art technology to promote well-being and success. We are committed to a family-friendly work environment, using flexible scheduling with a variable and transparent compensation plan that recognizes that all of us have competing commitments and obligations at different times in our lives. We support the pro bono and charitable work of our colleagues, ongoing professional development, and we maintain a scholarship program for law students specializing in intellectual property.
We recognize the reality that some of our colleagues face more challenges in reaching their professional goals than others. The firm is committed to addressing that imbalance whenever and however necessary since both the firm and its clients are the ultimate beneficiaries. In turn, however, a professional who joins our firm must have the maturity and self-presence to thrive in an environment where diversity is treated as a strength; we each bring our own unique skills and experience to bear for the benefit of our co-workers and clients.
Eligible candidates include patent and trademark attorneys, law students, engineers, and engineering students. Patent candidates must be eligible to sit for the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) patent bar exam or must be currently pursuing a degree/coursework to become eligible. Backgrounds in electrical, mechanical, or aerospace engineering are preferred. Previous work experience (engineering or otherwise) is strongly preferred. Immediate full-time and part-time openings are available.
For law students, engineers, and engineering students considering a career in patent law, we offer excellent exposure to the patent process, including reviewing invention disclosures, conducting patentability searches, preparing applications, negotiating with the USPTO, and resolving disputes.
For lateral associate and partner candidates, we offer a great platform to advance your career and to grow your book of business if that is one of your professional goals.
We offer a comprehensive and highly competitive benefits package for all full-time professionals and the ability to work both in the office and remotely as personal and professional commitments dictate. Several of our attorneys live in other states and work remotely on a full or part-time basis.
